Contributions by donors, members, and volunteers are vital to carrying out the mission of our museum. While our facility is modest, our goals are not and we greatly appreciate all the effort put in by employees, members, volunteers, and sponsors both past and present. If you would like to join us in telling the story of South Dakota's railroads, there are three main ways to help:

SDSRM members support the museum with an annual contribution. Members also receive several benefits including access to the Bob and Jo Anna Warder research library, museum archives, the "Waybill" newsletter, and free admission to the museum.

Have some time or want to add to your resume? Then volunteer for the SDSRM! Volunteers make up the backbone of our operation. Without the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, fulfilling our mission simply wouldn't be possible.

Becoming a member of the South Dakota State Railroad Museum is a fantastic way to contribute to our organization. Members receive free admission to the museum, have exclusive access to our archives in the Bob and Jo Anna Warder Research Library, are invited to exclusive events hosted by the museum, are provided with updates to museum happenings and major events the museum is participating in through the "Waybill", and more! Even better, there are different museum memberships available! Our two most popular are the individual membership and the family membership. Become a Volunteer

Our team of hardworking volunteers keep our museum running, and we'd love to have you as well! Not only is volunteering a great way to give back to your community, but it is also a good way to build experience for a resume, make lifelong friends, and support a good cause!

We have several projects going on which could use your help:

1). Constructing the Dakota Junction model train display.

2). Digitizing and archiving our collections.

3). Exhibit Construction for 2026.
